A Christmas village in Paris

Paris is adorned with an abundance of illuminations during the Christmas period! As early as November, garlands of light, festively dressed shop windows and festooned giant firs pop up throughout the capital. It’s the time of year when Paris earns its sobriquet The City of Light many times over. In addition to visiting the Champs-Elysées and Saint-Germain-des-Prés, we recommend that you stroll along the Rue Daumesnil to the Viaduc des Arts. This arts and crafts showcase is turned into a masterpiece of light from December until January. Or how about taking one of the sightseeing bus tours that visit the loveliest illuminated sites of the capital (the Opera Garnier, Eiffel Tower, Louvre Museum, etc.) at this time of year?

A festive host of things to do at Christmas in Paris

You simply must visit at least one Christmas market. Paris has so many that it’s tough to choose. If you’re passionate about recycling, solidarity and environmental awareness, we suggest you try the Pavillons des Canaux. Or, if you’re looking for a traditional Christmas market, head to Saint-Germain-des-Prés.

The children will have lots of fun with the Animal’s Christmas at the Paris Zoo. Or you can take them to the pop-up skating rink on the roof of the Galeries Lafayette department store. End your busy day by enjoying a crêpe and a mulled wine on the forecourt of the magically transformed Hôtel de Ville de Paris.
